RESEARCH JOURNAL

The Department launched its first bi-annual research journal, namely, Pakistan Journal of International Relations (PJIR) in 2008 but due to many financial constraints the Journal could not continue after 2016. Now with new ambitions and goals the Department is launching a new journal the Journal of International Studies (JIST). The JIST purports to be a quality, peer reviewed Journal inviting interesting and thought provoking contributions from scholars of national and international repute as well as doctoral students and researchers. The JIST covers subject areas: International, Regional and Domestic Security; Conflict Resolution and Confidence Building Measures; Peace Studies and Peace Building; Theories of International Relations; Globalization; Terrorism and Political Violence; National Defense Policy; Foreign Policy issues of different regions and of states; Nuclear Proliferation; Ethnic Conflicts; Inter-state and Intra-state Warfare; International Law and United Nations; Human Security and Development; Human Rights Environment; Gender issues; Regional Cooperation and Regional Institutional Building; Economics; Social political issues; Islam & International Relations.

 

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Following Research Projects funded by the international grant making organizations have been given to the Department: -

  1. Peace by Process: Lessons for India and Pakistan from the Middle East by the Ford Foundation in August 1997. (Prof. Dr. Moonis Ahmar)
  2. The Role and Relevance of CBMs in the post-nuclear South Asia by the U.S. Institute of Peace in March 2000. (Prof. Dr. Moonis Ahmar)
  3. Database on Violence and Terrorism in South Asia: 1971-2004. Project funded by the Ford Foundation and in collaboration with the Regional Center for Strategic Studies, Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2003. (Prof. Dr. Moonis Ahmar)
  4. Research project on Water Issues in South Asia funded by the United Nations Environmental program (UNEP) and Woodrow Wilson Center Washington D.C. (Prof. Dr. Shaista Tabassum)
  5. Research project on ‘River Water Sharing Problem Between India and Pakistan: A case study of Indus Water Treaty’, funded by the regional center for strategic studies, Colombo Sri Lanka. (Prof. Dr. Shaista Tabassum)
  6. Community Resilience to Violent Extremism in Pakistan: 2020 to present. The project is funded by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Pakistan and Creative Learning (CL) Washington D.C. (Prof. Dr. Shaista Tabassum)
